Does New York Life Insurance make its agents bug all your friends/family for life insurance? I have interviewed with New York Life, I really like the partner with whom I would be working for but he never gives me a straight answer on how we get leads, or where our clients come from. He gave me a notebook to fill out the names and phone numbers of all my friends to bring back for my 3rd interview. Any help would be appreciated. how else do you find leads, can you do direct mailings? does that work?

Why does New York Life Insurance Company need this information for employment? I am in the hiring process with New York Life Insurance Company and they had me fill out a background check resume packet in which they asked for my parents household income and liabilities since I am stilling living with them. In addition to that they require any previous employments within the last 10 years and they said that since I do not have 10 years of employment packet to include middle and high school information since those were within the past 10 years. I do not know if this is their standard policy or if this is standard for the background resume. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
NEW YORK LIFE INSURANCE#@#@#@#@#@? I am currently in the process of joining NEwYork Life Insurance. During the interview she mentioned something about getting some sort of supplemention for 3 years, was the recruiter talking about income while I am in training? DOes anybody work for NYL?
New York Life Insurance Agents? For those of you that have worked or work for this company, what was your experiences and opinions working with them. Is the national life insurance company in new york a scam? I received a call from the HR department asking me to come for an interview next week tuesday because of a posting of a resume online thru hotjobs. So does anyone know if this is a fraud? Well I've seen companies with the same familiar name as national life insurance stating from other people that it was a scam but I'm not sure if they were referring to this exact company or location
Is New York Life a good company to start my new career with?...? I am going to jump into the Finance and Insurance Industry. I am very seriously considering taking a position with New York Life to sell Insurance. First off, I will sell health and life insurance, then I will complete my training on becoming a certified financial planner. New York Life is known for their great trainning program, especially for new agents in the career. I strongly welcome any comments or suggestions.
Anyone know much about New York Life's Custom Whole Life Insurance Plan? From what I've read it sounds like a really good idea if you have young children. You can buy a plan for them. For example: A death benefit worth $500,000. You pay for the first five years only. The catch is that the annual fees is pretty expensive for many people. It's about $11,000 per year for 5 years. However, After the five years you pay nothing and by the time the child goes to college the cash value of the plan can pretty much cover most of not all of their college expenses. If you are lucky, and you keep the plan rolling it would be worth about 1.4 million by the time your child hits 60. So by starting young you are actually taking care of their retirement. Here is what I think is also a good thing about it, You can redeem the policy at any time, so if you are short of cash for your own retirement, you can redeem the policy that was intended for your child and use it for yourself. If I lived to 70 years old the policy would be available to fund your own retirement. anyone else here about this plan? Any thoughts? It sounds like a good idea for those who have or are expecting to have children. Opinions please! In response to Rahnside answer, it is not just about insuring them (death benefit) It's about securing their future and if need be having an emergency fund for me and my wife's whether it be retirement or helping our kids pay for their college tuition. I can insure them for whatever amount I want it doesn't have to be $500,000. But obviously, the more I pay in 5 years the bigger the cash value years down the line.
How is New York Life as an employer? Do they give base salary with commission? I have interviewed with New York Life for the position of an Insurance Agent/Financial Planning Advisor. I havent been informed of any base salary yet. I understand that most Insurance companies like Bankers give only commissions. I am not sure about this one. Also, If someone can let me know how New York Life and Bankers are in comparison with each other as employers cause I have an offer from Bankers also.
Do you reccomend New York Life vs. AFLAC for career choice? I am in the process of choosing a new career in Insurance. I am taking my license test in few weeks. I have been offered positions at New York Life and Aflac which are both 100% commission. Aflac is 35% commission plus 10% of my team members and NYL is 55%, but larger premiums. So, basically Aflac may be an easier sell, but I need to sell twice as much. NYL seems to have better education as well.
Does New York Life Test for THC? My husband and I are fairly sucessful, middle class people and my husband occasionally smokes a little pot. We have three kids and have decided it's time to increase our life insurance. We've decided to go with New York Life. Does anybody know if they test for THC? Please no "don't smoke pot and you won't have to worry about it" answers. I totally understand that! Thanks.
How do I find out if my Life Insurance policy is good? I keep hearing all the horror stories of Life Insurance policies being no good. I have a policy through AARP and New York Life. Does anyone know of a way I can check with someone regarding the dependability of my policy.
Should we get life insurance before my husband joins the military?? Should we get life insurance before my husband joins the military. My new york life friend told me that it's better because we can get more money if we do it before he joins. My husband says that the military pays for everything and they have there own life insurance. Which is the best route to take?? I would like to just do the new york life thing now instead of wait, he is joining in January. I'm not sure if I like the USAA life insurance. New York Life is a place I know that is reliable. But this is something people don't talk about very much. So I need some help Thanks!! :)
How does one become an Independent Agent if the life insurance and annuity business? Meaning, If you are first starting out in the insurance business(no history), how do you get the commission level of the independent agents? Do you just have to sell a certain amount of insurance or annuities, like 1 million worth, then you are pushed to the independent agent status, or is it that you have to have umpteen years of experience selling a certian amount of insurance before they would consider you for the indepedent agent status. Also, I heard that there were these companies, like FSD Financial Services, they let normal agents sign up and I guess if you go throught them (which seems like a middle man between them and the actual insurance companies) you can get the independent agent status and commission levels right away. Its like there a big company with EX: New YOrk life and they (FSD) automatically gets the bigger commission becasue of their status with the company, so that means any of their agents get the same bigger commission. Then Maybe agent pays FSD small fee. OK, If an independent agent means you can work for multiple companies. Then does that mean you get that higher commission. What i mean is normal indepent agents get 90% commission of insurance and 5-10% on annuities right?, but regular agents (who i assume work just for one company ex: new york life) only get like 55% on insurance and 3-5% of annuities. What makes an agent get those HIGHER commission levels?
Has anyone worked for New York Life insurance? I am considering a career with New York Life insurance. What is this company like to work for? Company culture? I'm just starting out in the insurance business. Any advice is appreciated.
New York Life vs MetLife Insurance? I have currently worked for New York Life Insurance for about 2 months. I am just getting started on actually being able to do business now that I have gotten my 215 - Life, Health, and Var. Annuities license. On the other hand, I just got an offer yesterday to come and work for MetLife Insurance. I have heard a few good things about them but in reality I don't know much about either company to know which one would be my best move. I would like your opinion and advice please. Thanks.

Why are metlife, prudential, and New York life allowed to keep selling whole life, variable life, and other bs This goes out to all the idiots who answered me before saying take your personal problems elsewhere, or i was dooped for having a 5th grade education. But actually i have $250,000 term life insurance, max out my Roth IRA everymonth, and have my own Primerica business. So for all you EMPLOYEES, or corporate slaves, i ask you, how much are you putting into your Roth? And lets not lie now, ok. Oh yea can you tell me what the rule of 72 is? Have fun at your 9-5.
Where do I get Pregnancy insurance (already pregnant) in New York "Upstate"? We have been "trying" to have another baby for a year now... We are pregnant and without insurance... which was ok until I found out we are a high-risk pregnancy and it will be costing us a whole lot more than we figured... Does anyone know where I can get pregnancy insurance, already being pregnant, in Madison County New York ??? That does not go by income guidelines as we are self employeed and that does not go by how much is in our checking/savings accounts. (both our mothers recently passed away and that life insurance money is in the savings accounts) Thanks in advance for answers...
What whole life insurance policy is best for a 24 year old? I have a policy from New York Life, but 2 of my friends who are financial planners, say Mass Mutual would be better... there's a bunch of baloney I'm not understanding i.e. guaranteed benefits, crap about withdrawing money for retirement. Altogether, it doesn't seem like I am getting that much from death benefits with the amount I am putting in ($1K/year until pretty much I'm 65). I don't want to pay forever for this... where in my policy does it say when I can stop paying?

Renters insurance in New York? Anyone who lives in New York State feel renter's insurance is a good idea.?I was told I could get a rate of under $100.00 for the year. What company do you have and what rate are you paying?
I live in Arizona and bought a car that is in New York, how do I cover it and get it out here? I live in Arizona. I bought a car from my brother's girlfriends father who lives in New York. The car is a 1998 Ford Explorer and is registered in New York. We agreed to the deal over the phone. I don't have car insurance. A friend of mine agreed to drive the car out this weekend. I can't register the car until it passes an Arizona emissions test. How do I make sure the car is covered by insurance as it is driven cross-country? Should I have a third party (like my brother) go to the NY DMV and register the car for me? Is it true I can't insure the car with the owner's plates and registration as my friend drives it from NY to Arizona? / / Exquis8te07: Do you mean I can still have the registration under the Seller but get a type of "transit insurance" in the meantime? /
Is Variable Universal Life Insurance right for us? My wife and I recently started variable universal life insurance policies. We are paying about $600 a month toward the policy on top of what we are each contributing to our 401k plans. We are both under 30 yrs. old, and are trying to get a good start on our retirement. Should we be investing in IRA's or something else instead? We both supported ourselves before we got married, so do we even need life insurance right now since we don't have children yet? Our advisor works for New York Life, and he's telling us that the variable universal policy is the best first step. I feel like he is just trying to maximize his commision instead of doing what's best for us. I know, we shouldn't have gone to an insurance salesman, but he was recommended by a close friend. What should we do? Combined, we make $85,000/yr. I contribute 6% to my 401k, and my wife contributes 1%. We are homeowners, not renters. Other that that, we don't have any other investments.
Can I buy a life insurance policy on my mother without her knowing it? My mother is convinced she can't get a life insurance policy (just for burial purposes) because she has degenerative disc disease and that it would be too expensive. I know people who have heart conditions (including relatives) who died and their family had life insurance for them. She has no life ins on her but my father has it on him. All my siblings including myself have gotten into arguments with her because we don't want to have to foot all the bills after she has passed away and we equally don't think my father should take out a loan to pay for her burial. I've seen these commercials with AARP through New York Life stating that regardless of age or health condition you can get a $10,000 policy. Are there such policies out there and can I get a policy on her without her knowing about it? I want to do this to have a peace of mind and don't want to see my father go through all these stressful things when she passes away. Do I need her SS# to do this?
Whole Life Insurance.? Ok, I am thinking about starting to invest into a Whole Life Insurance plan from New York Life. It would cost me around 30-60 dollars a month. I am 18 years old, I currently invest in mutual funds, additional stocks, and bonds. Would investing into the Whole Life be benefitial for me at my age? Or should I continue investing the way I already am, as well as looking for other alternatives. So basically, is investing in Whole Life Insurance at my age going to be any benefitial? With the liquid cash value increase over the years would it be worth it? Give your opinions and why, also other alternatives for a young invester for myself. PS: What is another investment that I can pay monthly, that will benefit me for the future... Minimum of a 5 year investment plan. I would prefer the payment to be around 50 dollars a month, and no higher than an initial 500-1000 dollar initial investment.
Life insurance? My mom has term life insurance for 10 years for New York Life.. is it true that in 10 years, she'll be able to renew it another 10 years? Won't that be more expensive? Also, what happens if you buy that 20 year term insurance and you don't pass away until 21, 22 or even 30 or more years? What happens to all your money, and isn't there a way to renew it? I heard that it would cost thousands and thousands more to renew it after 20 years.. Also, what about universal life insurance? I hear it's no good, but my mom wants to buy that too.. Can anyone please explain a bit?
Lost Life Insurance Policy Search? Is there a way to do a search for lost life insurance policies in the state of New York? I am looking for a reputable search method. Thanks!
Car Insurance for a 20 year old in new york? Okay so heres the deal. Im currently working full time and attending school part time in new york. To make life easier, i've decided to purchase a car. But the thing that bothers me the most is the car insurance. I know I'm going to have to pay alot even for only liability. The question is would it be cheaper ( insurance wise) to buy a used car or a brand new car? I'm not trying to get a sports car, just something to drive around and make life easier. Either way I'm going to finance it if it makes a difference. I've had my license for a year now with no previous insurance records. By the way, my dad lives in another state. Is there any way he can buy the car for me and have it insured?
Considering a position at New York Life. Any idea what to realistically expect for hours, pay, other details? Im told most insurance companies retain 17% of their employees after 5 years, vs NY Life is retaining 60%. What kind of training and support am i looking at? I know hours vary, and you get out of it what you put into it, but what can i expect to work in an average week? Will i start part salary, part commission? If so, over what period of time does the salary go away. Not that i expect to just make the minimum, but what minimum requirements, if any, do they have for you in sales at NY Life. I was told i should see 40k the first year, with the possibility for more. Also told by the local mgr, that he just had two people who broke 100k in their first year. Not common, but it can happen.....can it? What types of commissions do you get for different plans you sell? What sets NY Life apart from other Ins companies? Any insider input on these questions, or other thoughts and opinions from people in the field would be appreciated. Thank you.
Life in New York, Cost of Living, Taxes, Salary and General Life??? Hello I live in the UK in Manchester. I work as a Retail Manager on £25k a year (around $40k) plus bonus. I have recently become single out of an 8 year relationship and am dreaming of a life in New York, and cant stop thinking about it. I have always had a thing about New York and just want to know about life there, working etc such as: When you get paid what deductions come out of your salary in taxes ect? in the uk we pay one tax and one insurance which covers healthcare, in total about 25% of total salary. How much do people in retail managers jobs earn? as a sales or department manager in a big store or a deputy store manager in a smaller store. How would a single 26 year old woman fit into a new york lifestyle? How do you get a green card or right to work there? And finally realisticly how do people afford to live in the city if they are not top high flyer business people? The more information you can give me the better...I need to get this out of my system!!! Thanks!
My father has passed away unexpectedly, he had no life insurance, what can i do? My father was a disabled vet who passed away unexpectedly yesterday. He had no life insurance, and I am the only family member who will be responsible for his funeral arrangements. I don't have much money to bury him. I think that he had a burial plot waiting for him in New York, but with him having no insurance, will this be a very expensive thing to move him from Michigan to New York?? Help please I don't have anyone that will financially help me bury my daddy.
