My husband of 50 needs a life insurance policy?
My husband will be 50 years old in March and he needs a life insurance policy. We are looking for a good/reputable company with reasonable rates. Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated. Right now American Family quoted $50/mos for $100,000 term life, 10 years. He thinks this is to much.

- Contact an insurance broker. A broker will be able to find you a product that suits your specific need and will have access to all the same products that you can find online. Cheaper is not always better. Sometimes cheaper policies means poor customer service, or added exclusions, or not as stable of a company as the next guy that is $1 more. An exact recommendation is tough without knowing what state or province you live in. If he's a smoker, $50 is right in the range of what a term policy would likely cost according to the website I used based on regular health risk($47 is the cheapest place, but the 5th cheapest is around $52). If he's a non-smoker, you are getting absolutely hosed. Most of the companies (as in the top 20-25 companies) are all in the $22-$30 range.
- I will all depend on his health and pre-exsiting conditions if any. The older you are the more expensive it will be also. a 10 year term with STANDARD health should run you between 25-40 dollars. I am a life insurance agent with Allstate Insurance Co. and i have him quoted for 34.94 per/month and Allstate is a much superior company than American Family. If you'd like contact me at JLM7215@gmail.com and i can help you,
- The older you get, the more expensive life insurance gets. He'll have to accept that reality. And vitually all insurers will require an underwriting physical exam. All "quotes" are preliminary until that step is complete.
- There are a few ways to find a reasonable rate with a reputable insurance company. You can contact a local life insurance agent, via the yellow pages, or through a recommendation from a family-member or friend. Or, you can contact life insurance companies directly by phone, requesting life insurance quotes. Or, you can request life insurance quotes online through a life insurance quote service that offers quotes from a network of over 70 insurance companies. You can visit my site for information. Whatever, you do, make sure to: 1. Compare multiple life insurance quotes from several insurance companies to find a competitive rate. 2. Make sure you review the financial stability ratings of the insurers. Your quotes should provide the AM Best Company financial rating for the companies. A rating of "A" Excellent, or better, indicates an insurer that should be able to pay their claims. 3. Make sure you consider how much life insurance you need, how much you can afford, and how long you really need the coverage. Also, paying your premiums once per year (annually), instead of monthly, may save you some money. Rates can and do vary quite a bit between insurers based on a number of underwriting factors, including: Age, gender, health, family health history, occupation, hobbies, type and amount of coverage, length of term, among other factors. But, keep in mind, a survery performed in 2007 by the Insurance Information Institute stated term life insurance rates have decreased by 50% over the past dozen years. So, term life can be affordable, but rates vary by person. Make sure you compare several life insurance quotes before choosing a plan. Best of luck to you and your family.
