of health care in other developed nations, EU, etc then why do so many insist that we have the best health care in the world- yeah, specialists for the wealthy and those who have or can afford very good health insurance? My source is AARP- Bulletin. There are numerous other sources. Drug and health care corporations are ripping us a new one every time we pay these inflated rates in the name of a free market for a life and death necessity. I'm not for socialized health care but affordable health care for people who work or retire early- after 55, for example, due to illness, etc. Stephen, your answer implies intellectual laziness at the outset- do you really believe that anyone who gets ill becomes so because they are either lazy or inactive? This may be true of some but surely not all by any stretch. That's just plain silly putty. Correction- "universal".

1. Americans need to get of their lard asses, eat healthy and do some exercise. Problem solved. That's health care for you. And if somebody doesn't do that, why the fuck should I pay for it?
2. You will see socialized health care in the near future, it is the only practical solution to the problem. You will always have the option to purchase individual health insurance from a private source if you so desire, to augment what you will have through the government plan.
3. maybe you look at it wrong. "socialized health care" is a misnomer. call it instead universal health care; covering everyone. it is a travesty that our health care is in the hands of gangsters (the insurance companies and such).
