what is the blood test that a life insurance company *normally* gives to an applicant?

I had this blood test when I applied for Life Ins, and after the test results came in to the company, the agent told me that "at least you do not have cancer". so what is this test? I say "normally" gives to applicants to mean that there is no obvious other problems. for me , it was for $500,000 about 7 years ago, age 43.
