Places to compare small policies?
Most of the places for life insurance (like SelectQuote.com) I've looked at that compare rates start with $100,000 policies for term life. I need a policy of only about $25,000 as I have nobody to support and my hubby just wants to be sure there's enough to pay any final bills and funeral costs. I don't want to be forking out for coverage I don't need. Any suggested places?

- You're going to pay way more for $25,000 of coverage, than $100,000 of coverage. So. Is the goal to carry a policy not more than $25,000, or is the goal CHEAP insurance? You probably want cheap insurance. Go for the $100K.
- My recommendation for you is to call a LOCAL agent, and have him/her do a free personal Financial Need Analysis (FNA), or other Total Need Program for you AND your husband. Did you know that a working / non-working spouse has a dollar value, for the work he/she does around the house? How much would it cost to have someone come into your home and clean house, do the laundry, cook, grocery shop, etc., if your husband had to pay someone to do it? My guess would be somewhere in the neighborhood of at least $30,000 per year. There is also the need to establish an emergency fund, to provide for any emergency that may arise, such as a car repair, new refrigerator, or even a lay-off from work. This emergency fund should equal 6-8 months of income. The FNA will, not only give you additional knowledge of your TOTAL insurance need, but will help you understand those needs. It will also help you determine in your own minds how much and what type of life insurance you both need to accomplish your personal short and long-term financial goals and objectives. The FNA will also help you determine if you need an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to provide an income at retirement. (All that will be there when you get there is what you send on ahead.) The FNA will aslo help you determine if you need Disability Income Protection, to provide an income should you be hurt or sick and can't work, or do housework. According to statistics, disability is a greater risk than death prior to the age of 65. Best wishes.
