What is the average life insurance quote?

Both monthly and yearly (both for a smoker and and non-smoker) and (for a drinker and a non-drinker)...

Public Comments

  1. How old is the average insured? How much coverage does the average policy have? How do you average whole life, and term life? How long is a string? The possible answers are endless.
  2. somewhere between $5 and $50,000 per month. Too many variables in there.
  3. It depends on your age, health, smoker or non-smoker and a whole lot of other stuff. If you want a quote call some local agents.
  4. Hi, as many had replied, it depends on a lot of factors, the key factors are as follows: 1) age 2) gender 3) smoker 4) pre-existing condition 5) type of insurance Points 1) to 4) is pretty straight forward. Point 5) is quite complicated. There are 3 main types of life insurance: i) Term ii) Whole life iii) Investment link plans (ILP) Life insurance will cover death and may cover total permanent disability, terminal illness and critical illness or you can add riders to cover these 3 conditions. It varies from co to co. Term life is the cheapest form of life insurance, but there is no cash value in the policy, i.e. you will not get any cash in return even if you had paid the premiums for 30 years then decided to terminate the policy. Whole life (WL) is the traditional form of life insurance and it comes with cash values. They are definitely more expensive. The premiums paid are used to pay for the necessary charges and coverage and the remaining used for investment. That's how you get cash values and some will even come with bonuses. ILP is a relatively new type of insurance. It is similar to WL but the key thing here is that you can choose what you want to invest in. This is in a way more transparent as in WL, you are not informed of the type of investment the ins co is going into. However, this carries a higher risk but a potentially higher retunrs. The cash value fot he policy will depend on the values of the investment. There are a lot of riders that you can add to all 3 types of life insurance plans to complete the coverage that you need. The main thing to consider is the affordability. If you can'y afford a high premium now, get a term life to cover yourself first. Review with your agent when you have more budget but you must make a conscience effort to set aside some $ to cater for your insurance needs. You may also use this as a instrument to plan for your retirement. Before you buy any life insurance, I feel that it is more important to have yourself covered for hospitalisation and accidents first due to the ever increasing medical cost. All the above are based on my experience as a financial consultant in my country. The situation and practices may be different in yours but I believe the basic idea should be similar.
  5. Life insurance is a very personal purchase based on very individual considerations such as height, weight, lifestyle, family history and health conditions, to name a few. Further, insurance quotes vary widely based on the type of policy your select and amount of coverage you need. Due to the high health risks attached to smoking and drinking, smokers and drinkers have different (higher) rates. To get an estimate for your life insurance quote, I would recommend that you begin your search online; it is very easy to get reliable information at your fingertips. For instance, online quote providers have free life insurance calculators that will help you work out the coverage you need. Based on this, you can apply for their free quotes, which will in turn give you the estimates you are looking for.
