Insurance Sales question, are there net broker branches?
In the mortgage industry you can open your own mortgage shop under someones license and don't even have to be licensed at all, it is under the main branch umbrella called net brach. Is there anyone who you can do this w. in life insurance, a broker can quote few companies, and then you can sell in every state?
Public Comments
- No. In every state you must actually be licensed to sell life insurance. You can be a captive agent, meaning you sell for just one company, or you can be a broker that contracts with several different companies. Also, in most states the life insurance license also allows you to sell health insurance, and in some states annuities, too. Good luck!
- I am personally licenced in over 40 states as a requirement for my job function. You cannot sell and in some cases represent an insurance product unless you hold a resident and/or non-resident license in the contract state of your customer. Unlike the morgage market under FDIC "federal" banking rules the department of insurance will be monitored by the state which you do business.
