How much should whole life insurance cost for a younger individual?

I would like to know a general range of prices for a younger age. I am 22 and I went to nationwide but whole life was too expense. They quoted a 30 year term, $250K for $25/month, which I still feel is expensive. Let me know what you think. Whoa calm down man..I only think it's expensive because my mom who is more than 20 years older than me pays a little bit more for $100k..yeas there's a big difference between $100k and 250K but even when I checked how much my $100k would be it was only a little cheaper. Considering the huge age difference between us i though it was too expensive

  1. Too expensive? What planet do you live on? Thats an excellent rate.
  2. believe it or not, at 22 and being a male, you are a higher mortality risk than your mom right now, which is why it's "high" sounding to you. Your age group is well-known for dying in car wrecks and other accidents. I think it's a reasonable rate but check with your parents' credit union and/or other groups which may afford them some discounts, for their rates. When you hit age 25, if you don't use tobacco or work as, say, a commercial fisherman, or have drunk driving arrests, your rates will drop.
  3. FYI - a "30 year term" policy is not whole life; that is a term life product. You need to sit down with the agent and discuss your need for insurance and make sure you understand the different types. You may also want to discuss rates with an agent that works with several companies, not just one.
  4. How long should a string be? How MUCH whole life insurance is there?? What's the POINT of that whole life insurance? Why is your need PERMANENT? Are you NEVER going to be able to save any money?? And, btw, 30 year term is NOT "whole life" but "term life". At your age, you can buy $250,000 of 20 year term, if you're in great health and not overweight, for about $150 a YEAR. Right. At MY age, 45, MY term insurance costs me $126 a year, for six figures of coverage. So maybe yours really isn't term, but whole life. But you said 30 year term, which is a definate conflict. Whenever you're looking at buying life insurance, you need to SET THE GOAL FIRST. After you set the goal, what you want it to ACCOMPLISH for you, then you can pick the appropriate product.
  5. Yes, that's expensive. A health 22 year old costs about $18/$19 per month for a 30-year term policy at $250,000. And for $44/month you can get a plan that would last until you're 85 years old at $250,000....$55/month to go all the way to age 120. Even at 22 a 30 year term doesn't make a whole lot of sense in most scenarios.
