Medical Question, Neurologists out their?
I need some help, from anyone who knows anything about neurology. Ive been having severe migraine attacks for about 4 years straight now. This means, when i wake up i have a severe headache, and when i go to bed i have a severe headache. Now, i know what your thinking, that's absurd. I wish. This has plagued my life for so long. Ive visited a neurologist before and no help. My migraines are accompanied with aura, as well as dizziness, feeling weak, becoming tired and irritated and the whole deal. About 2 1/2 years ago, my hand would start going numb. To the point that it caused me severe pain. From the bending of my elbow to my finger tips. Pain is so severe, i would cry upon moving it or being touched. This lasted about 3-4 days each time and happens frequently now. My neurologist did confirm i have tremors, and really bad Peripheral vision. She wasn't sure what either was caused by, and asked for a Lumbar test. Which, i did not due because of lack of parental approval. To make this story short, my tremors are getting worse, my muscles are weakening, my migraines more severe and it seems to go down hill from their. I did an MRI 3 years ago, and it revealed only multiple small "white spots" my doctor called lesions. There are days i can't get out of bed. I have no health insurance, or money. I'm 18 years old, a bit overweight. Have a family history of both Parkinson's, Multiple sclerosis, Anemia, and Diabetes. I do not have diabetes, but I did at some point have anemia. No longer do, Please help me im desperate. P.S please don't tell me to go out and get health insurance, or sneak off to the hospital without parental consent.

- Jessica,, you obviously have at least one medical condition which not only requires medical diagnosis but also medical treatment(s). Your neurologist was never allowed to rule out conditions or find out enough information to identify or to confirm a suspected diagnosis. I am surprised that your parents wouldn't allow for the additional tests the neurologist ordered because lesions suggest that the diagnosis was on track. And you were only 15 years old with some serious symptoms. Your symptoms suggest that your condition warranted getting a diagnosis back then. Without knowing your approximate geographic location it is impossible to suggest agencies which might help or Free Clinics you can visit. Your migraine headaches, complete with aura might or might not be related to the numbness, tremors, muscle weakness, pain and lesions. Nor do we know if the peripheral vision issue is related to the migraines, what might be another condition or whether it is a separate vision issue. You might need to see a neurologist, a motion disorder neurology specialist, a headache specialist, a cardiologist, an endocrinologist or a spinal specialist. Your symptoms suggest possibilities in any of the above areas and possibly more. It is possible that you have Juvenile PD, which does not require lab tests to diagnose but usually involves mab tests to rule out other conditions. It is equally possible that you have MS although you are a bit young. But there are a few other conditions which are also possible and you will not get a diagnosis here. I suggest that you prepare a full chronological symptom list. When the symptom first occurred, when you notice that symptom during the day, what precedes it and how you treat it now. Did you have any serious illness of injuries. Spinal trauma, head trauma? Don't forget the family medical history on another list. You should also prepare a list of medications you have taken in the past, why you took them and the duration. Next a daily schedule - what you are eating on an average day (this has nothing to do with your weight) include snacks and all beverages aside from water. I can understand that you might not be working but if you are still in school. I do not understand why you are not covered by your parents' health insurance (I ask that because of the mention of parental consent) or did you mention that because of financial liability? If you are not going to seek medical attention, you might want to begin your self-diagnosis quest with a migraine assessment test: http://uhs.berkeley.edu/home/healthtopics/pdf/assessment.pdf The assessments for MS and PD need to be done my professionals. And the other possible conditions are too complex to even consider. Please look into available services in your area.
