Can they raise my life insurance by over 50%?
I bought term life insurance and they quoted me $19 for 125,000 of coverage. They said after i did my lab tests they could quote me less. I am 23 years old, non smoker, non drinker, not overweight considered healthy. I went for my lab tests for this insurance and they found blood in my urine and raised it to nearly 30 a month. I used to be prone to bladder infections but i havent had any in years. I am so mad are they allowed to do this or am i considered a threat and will die faster? Lol I just bought a condo so they gave me a choice to purchase mortgage ins or life ins, i have no kids. They said if i buy now my rate will be cheaper for life.

- You are 23. Do you have any children that can't live without your income? If not, you don't need life insurance. Easy way to save $30 a month. ------------ You don't need mortgage insurance and you don't need life insurance. They gave you a choice? To force to to buy one or the other? Of junk you don't need? What kind of a condo association is that? One that sells mortgages from scammy companies? I would be more worried if the same person giving you this gave you the mortgage. I would seriously alarmed. -------- Does the company start with a P by any chances. I bet it does.
- Yes they can. No one is forcing you to pay anything. Get a different carrier....simple as that. However unless you have kids, life insurance on a 23 year old is a waste of money. Unless you financially SUPPORT someone, life insurance is throwing away money. That goes at ANY age. It is even a waste for someone who is 83, let alone 23. They used that line on you to make THEM money.
- I'd call the insurance company and ask their justification of the 50% increase. That does seem a bit much for just a bit of UTI. Maybe you could shop some other insurance companies. However, given the choice between mortgage insurance and life insurance, I'd say that life insurance is better for the long term.
- Why do you think the insurance company required a physical, so they could check you out and the results indicate you have some condition whereby your premium will be higher. This must be a cheesy insurance company. If you have no kids, why did you take the life insurance option. You'll be paying that for the next 75 years.
- Any "quotes" for life insurance premiums are always contingent on the medical underwriting. Yes, they are "allowed" to do that.
