gerber life insurance what do you think aboout it?

- I think that life insurance on an infant is morbid. Thats what I think.
- It may just be that I am overreacting, but I personally find it repulsive. I hate the idea of taking out a plan on your baby or child so you get money if they die. Ewww.
- my dad has bought one for all of his grandkids (has 3 with one on the way). he says its very affordable but he hopes he never has to use them.my dads a thinker though and he knows how cruel this world is. anything can happen so being prepared isnt always a bad thing. also if anything ever did happen...funeral costs would be the last worry on the parents mind. i hope he never has to cash them in and i wish there wasnt a need for them but there are. God willing if nothing happens to the child, when they turn 18 they can cash them in and have a little bit of college money or start a fund of their own.
- if you depend on the kid for your income (childactor), yes, insure the kid. otherwise it is a waste of money.
- I think its annoying how they call you right after you have your baby and pressure you into getting it. I said ok to it, at the time I didnt even know what was going on, I had just had my baby. After I read all the papers I got in the mail I cancelled it. I rather get life insurance through my husbands job.
- If you have the money to cover a funeral, then don't worry about it. If you don't, save the cost of the premiums for the funeral. Sorry to be morbid. I think the whole thing is a TOTAL waste of money, the chances of losing a child these days are less and less. What do you need the money for other than a funeral? Again, I apologize if you find this rude, but losing the child will actually save you a bundle. I think the whole thing is a scam, and look at all the advertising they do, they obviously make a TON of money from it! If your child is a child actor, the Gerber insurance will NOT make up for their income, which you should be saving for them, anyway!
- Life insurance is really intended to cover end of life expenses and to support those who financially depend on the insured person. Since it's pretty unlikely that most people depend on their children for income, it doesn't really make a lot of sense. It is realistic that some children die young, but most don't. Why not put money in an interest bearing account on your child's behalf every month? This way, your child could use the money toward college, a home, or a wedding when he or she is older. If, unfortunately, the child dies young, the money could be put toward funeral expenses.
- I used to work at a new born baby photography company and we sent out information on Gerber life insurance in the mail with the photos, and every time a mother called about it, I told them not to bother with it, and just do yourself and your child a few favors; -open a bank account for them -get them a SIN number (Social Insurance Number...differs for each country, PPN, etc). -open a savings account in their name and put away money for them with high interest, this can be used towards school, travel, their future baby.... They life insurance is pretty scary, they use scary tactics to get you to sign up. They basically harass you until you sign up, they continue to harass you after you have signed up. They tell you figures about school costs for 18 years in advance....how no one will be able to afford it.....etc. Save the energy and endless phone calls. Set up a few accounts for your child. They WILL call you the day after you get home from the hospital, and you WONT have the energy to think about death after the birth of your child. They thrive off people who have had c-sections and are still medicated.....horrible. Hope this has helped, I would never recommend this company or any other life insurance company after working in a company that supported them (actually, they supported us....I hate thinking of that).
