  1. That cannot be right. You'd be paying in a total of $3,240 ($30 per month * 12 months per year * 9 years) to get $70,000. No company could afford to do that. Perhaps the $70,000 is a death benefit? Read the fine print VERY closely.
  2. Gerber life insurance is over priced. Most juvenile policies run around $4 per year per $1,000 of coverage. If it is $70,000 in coverage, that would normally run around $23-$25 per month.
  3. Why does a child need life insurance? If you say "I don't know", then don't get the policy, and just invest the money on somthing else, like a 529 plan.
  4. I'd do it! Right now, she's probably healthy and would have no trouble getting it. But suppose she would come down with lieukemia or cancer. NO company would write life ins on her. You are probably asking, why does a 12 year old beed life ins? I( hate to say it but 12 year olds do die. If that would happen, what would you do to pay for the funeral. Take it out of your bank account, beg from friends, hope the church takes up a colection for you? What would you do??? Incidentally, she doesn't get a dime back. This sounds like a death benefit. That;s what the survivor would get. Right now, that would be you, later. her own family. Like insurance doesn't do a thing for the deceased. Nothing! it's the living that it provides for.
