why do life insurance company do a urine check for protein and sugar?
My husband and I are taking out new pol. and I received a call from someone claiming to be the insurance nurse who would like to come to our home and do a check of our blood preasure, urine for protein and sugar levels and pulse. We are required to fast for two hours before hand.

- i never heard of that one before hmm...im guessing to see how the persons health is
- They need to know how much possibilities you may become diabetes or heart disease in the future, and if you had high possibility to have such diseases, they would charge you more.
- The levels of sugar found in urine will determine if you have low-high blood sugar or diabetes. determining the quantity of protein in to the urine will tell if you have internal problems (esp. with a high level). The bottom line is that they do this to be assured that they are getting clients who are still physically fit or they are doing this for check-up purposes. If ever that the reason was they were looking into the good deal that they are getting that one insurance policy holder who can pay fruitfully and make them earn too. maybe this answer would help
- Probably looking for pre-existing conditions. Why don't you contact customer service and ask THEM?
- To check if you have kidney disease or diabetes. It's cheaper for them than doing a blood test, which they often do too.
- Possibly check for diabetes and drugs
- Most life insurance policies over $150,000-$250,000 face amounts require a urine test with a visit by a paramed or nurse. Usually if you get much higher than that they will require a portable EKG and a blood sample. They are just trying to verify your health status.
