Where can I get the BEST deal in life insurance?

Given this poor economy I have very little to spend on life insurance. I notice some of the people from SelectQuote have been bugging me to sign lately. I assume this is because of the economy. Can anyone suggest where/how to get the best plan? Right now, they are quoting me on some basic term plan for $45/month for 600,000 benefit. That sounds OK but I'd really like to get the return of premium plan while not paying much more. Thanks for any help!

  1. There's no one "best" deal. Your best off, however, going to an independent agent, and getting quotes from different companies. Be SURE to check the ANNUAL premium, vs the monthly premium, as that monthly premium has INSTALLMENT CHARGES included. You're not going to GET a return of premium term policy, for the same price as straight term. It's a numbers game. If you do the math on it, you'll see what I mean.
  2. Definitely shop around as life companies have different "target markets". For example one life company may prefer to offer policies to white collar clients so their premium rates for someone who may have a trade occupation will be more expensive than another company who may be prepared to offer policies to the trade occupations. Your age will also factor into the equation. The best way to find the right policy for you is to get a financial planner to do the research for you. Be sure to tell them though if you have any health issues as this can also determine which company and policy may be the best one for you.
  3. Contact an insurance broker that has access to multiple companies. The insruance industry pricing has absolutely nothing to do with the economy being strong or not. It has to do with mortabilty and morbidity tables (the odds of getting sick or dying). IF SelectQuote is telling you it's becuase of the economy that you should sign now, that is VERY VERY shady and I would avoid them like the plague. IF you're just assuming it's because of the economy, that's not the case...they probably feel that they can convince you to buy, so it will put money in their pockets...that's why they are calling so often.
  4. FG, Try getting an online insurance quote It's free and generally hassle free. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-Insurance.html Good Luck!
